About US
History of The Fishin' Club of Whidbey Island
The Fishin' Club was founded in May of 1991, when a group of fishermen with varying skill levels and interests got together and established the basic goals and purposes of the fledgling organization. It was decided that the new club should be non-profit, family-oriented, non-political, educational, and should serve the community. Most of all, the fishermen wanted it to be FUN! One of their most important goals was to form a club where saltwater fisherman, freshwater fisherman, the old pro, and the newcomer to the sport, would all feel at home in an atmosphere of sportsmanship and good fellowship. Of course, as one member pointed out at the beginning, "A fishin' club ought to be a FISHIN' Club!" and the new club had a name.
The success of the new club has been tremendous. We have members in six different states and are excited about all the new members that have joined us.
